Question 1

Do Pinterest downloads have a watermark?

Accepted Answer

No, and there is nothing to remove. Pinterest does not stamp its logo onto pin photos or videos — the files on its CDN are already clean. We add nothing to them either: no logo, no text, no re-compression. Other sites advertise a "no watermark" promise because they are built for TikTok, where the platform genuinely does burn a logo and username into the copy its own save button produces.

Question 2

Which platform actually watermarks its downloads?

Accepted Answer

TikTok, and only TikTok. The watermark is added when you use the in-app save, not when the video is uploaded — TikTok stores a clean source file and overlays the logo on the way out. X and Pinterest do not watermark at all. That is why our TikTok tool advertises a clean file and our Pinterest tool does not: there would be nothing to advertise.

Question 3

Is it really free, or is there a limit I will hit?

Accepted Answer

Free, with no signup, no subscription, and no daily cap. The site is funded by advertising, which is why you will see ad units on the pages. Rejecting cookies removes the ads and every tool still works — none of them depend on cookies or on an account.

Question 4

Do I need to install an app or extension?

Accepted Answer

No. Every tool is one web page that works in any modern browser on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. There is nothing to install, and no permission to grant.

Question 5

Why do you have so many separate tools instead of one box?

Accepted Answer

Because the searches are different and the media types behave differently. Someone looking for a Pinterest GIF has a genuinely different job from someone saving a TikTok sound, and a page that tries to be both ends up vague for both. The home tool does handle Pinterest video, image, and GIF pins together if you are not sure.

Question 6

Why is my downloaded video lower resolution than the one I was watching?

Accepted Answer

Almost always because the version in the player is not the version stored. Platforms keep several renditions per upload and the player picks one based on your connection. The list our tools show is the set of files that actually exist. A second cause: the file you are comparing against was re-encoded by whatever you downloaded it with previously.

Question 7

Can your tool make a 480p video into 4K?

Accepted Answer

No. Upscaling invents pixels — it interpolates values that were never in the original, so the result is a larger file with no real detail and often a worse-looking image. The upload is a hard ceiling. If a creator posted 720p, 720p is the best file that exists anywhere, not just here.

Question 8

Will the file be compressed or degraded in transit?

Accepted Answer

No. Files transfer from the platform's CDN to your device as stored. Nothing is re-encoded, re-compressed, or passed through a converter. What you receive is the same file the platform holds.

Question 9

Why did my GIF download as an MP4?

Accepted Answer

Because that is what the platform stores. GIF compresses every frame independently and is capped at 256 colours, so most platforms convert uploaded GIFs into short silent video loops instead — smaller, smoother, and full colour. The MP4 you get is the animation, not a failed conversion. Convert to .gif locally only if a specific system insists on the extension.

Question 10

Why is there no sound on my animated download?

Accepted Answer

GIF cannot carry audio at all, and platforms strip it when they convert. If a post has sound, it is a video pin or post, not an animated one — use the video tool instead.

Question 11

The download says the post is unsupported. Why?

Accepted Answer

Run the incognito test: open the link in a private window. If the platform asks you to log in there, the content is private, restricted, age-gated, deleted, or region-locked. Every tool on this site works as a logged-out visitor, so it sees exactly what a stranger sees. No downloader can do better without credentials, and any site claiming otherwise is either harvesting your login or simply broken.

Question 12

It says the link format is invalid.

Accepted Answer

You almost certainly pasted a board, profile, or search URL. The tools need the direct post link — a Pinterest pin URL, a TikTok video URL, or a post URL containing /status/. A share-sheet short link from the mobile app works fine.

Question 13

Where did my file go on my phone?

Accepted Answer

On Android and desktop it lands in the browser's Downloads folder. On iPhone, Safari saves into the Files app under Downloads rather than Photos — open Files, find it, then use Share ▸ Save Video to move it into your camera roll. Ctrl+J (⌘+J on Mac) opens the browser's download history if you are unsure.

Question 14

My download failed partway through.

Accepted Answer

Large video files exceed the response limit on serverless infrastructure, so the proxy cannot relay them. When that happens the tool opens the original CDN link directly instead — the file still downloads, it just bypasses our server. If a video is very large, expect that.

Question 15

Do you need my Pinterest, TikTok, or X login?

Accepted Answer

Never. There is no login field anywhere on this site and there is no account to create. The tools make the same request an anonymous browser would, which is exactly why they cannot see private content.

Question 16

What data do you collect?

Accepted Answer

Your submitted URL, the platform, the media type, the quality you picked, a one-way salted hash of your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. That record exists so we can keep the tools working, spot abuse, and see which platforms are worth maintaining. Media files are never stored — they stream from the source platform to you. Analytics and advertising providers process limited technical data as described in the privacy policy, and nothing is sold to third parties.

Question 17

Is the site safe to use?

Accepted Answer

There is no account to phish, nothing to install, and no download of an executable file. The one real risk on any download site is a fake "downloader" that is really an APK or a malware payload — we serve only web pages and media. You can verify the domain reputation yourself through Google Safe Browsing, Norton Safe Web, and Sucuri.

Question 18

Can I re-upload or sell what I download?

Accepted Answer

No. Downloading changes where a file lives, not who owns it. Publicly visible does not mean copyright-free: a post being reachable by strangers says nothing about what you are licensed to do with it. Personal offline reference and study are generally fine. Reposting, monetising, or incorporating into published work needs the creator's permission.

Question 19

I own the content and it was removed. Will you take it down?

Accepted Answer

We do not host media at all, so there is usually nothing here to remove — files are served from Pinterest, TikTok, and X's own CDNs. The fastest fix is a copyright complaint to whichever platform is serving the file, since they control it. For anything that does need to come from us, send a DMCA notice to contact@down4media.online with the six elements the DMCA requires.

Question 20

Is this affiliated with Pinterest, TikTok, or X?

Accepted Answer

No. Down4Media is an independent site operated by Celvoid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of those companies. All trademarks belong to their owners.
