Download Pinterest Images in Their Original Resolution

If you've ever right-clicked a pin and hit "Save image," you've probably noticed the result looks softer than what you saw on screen. That's because Pinterest serves a compressed 736px-wide copy on the pin page, while the full-size file lives in a separate /originals/ folder that the interface never links to directly. How it works

Supported formats

Pinterest hosts pins as JPG, PNG, or WebP depending on what the creator uploaded, and the download preserves whichever format the original uses. JPG is the most common for photos, PNG shows up in graphics and infographics, and WebP appears on newer uploads. If you need a different format afterward, any basic image editor can convert the file. Works on any device, no app required

Everything runs in the browser, so the process is the same whether you're on an iPhone, an Android phone, or a desktop. On iPhone, paste the link in Safari, download, then long-press the image and choose Save Image to send it to Photos. On Android, the file lands in your Downloads folder. On PC or Mac, it saves wherever your browser normally puts downloads. There's no extension to install and nothing to grant permissions to — which also means nothing tracking your Pinterest activity.

When a pin won't download

A few situations will stop a download from working. Pins on secret boards and pins from private accounts aren't publicly accessible, so there's nothing for the tool to fetch. Deleted pins return an error even if you still have the old link. And occasionally a pin's source image has been removed from Pinterest's servers while the pin page lingers. If a link fails, open it in a private browser window first — if you can't see the image there without logging in, it can't be downloaded here either.

A note on copyright

Images on Pinterest belong to the people who created them. Downloading a pin for personal reference is generally fine, but republishing, selling, or using someone's work commercially requires the creator's permission. When in doubt, follow the pin back to its source and ask.
