Animated pins are one of the trickiest things to save from Pinterest. Right-click a moving pin and choose "Save image," and you'll usually end up with a frozen first frame — because what your browser grabs is the static preview, not the animation. Most Pinterest "GIFs" aren't really GIFs

GIF or MP4 — which should you pick?
It depends on where the file is going. MP4 is smaller, smoother, and keeps more color detail, which makes it the right choice for messaging apps, video editors, or anywhere a video player is available. GIF is bulkier but universally supported: it autoplays and loops on its own in places that won't embed video, like forum posts, README files, and some profile pages. If you're not sure, grab the MP4 — you can always convert it to a GIF later, but converting a GIF back to video won't recover lost quality.
