Why not just use the Pinterest save button
Saving keeps a pin inside Pinterest; it does not put a file on your device. Video pins never show a download option in the app. This tool gives you the actual MP4 so you can watch it offline, drop it into a project, or send it to someone.
What is refused, and why
Board, profile and search links are refused because they resolve to collections. Secret-board pins, private accounts, deleted pins and age-restricted posts are refused because a logged-out visitor cannot see them either.
Why the link has to point at one pin
A pin URL holds a numeric id after /pin/, or arrives as a pin.it short code. Both identify exactly one media item, which is why a download can start immediately. A board URL instead identifies dozens of items, and the endpoint returns one file per request, so it has nothing single to hand back.
