How we testWhy offline copies matter
Posts get deleted, accounts go protected and timelines are reordered. A saved file survives all of it. It is also the only way to watch a clip offline or hand it to an editor without a re-download.
Saving on a phone
Android: the file goes to Downloads and appears in Gallery. iPhone: Files › Downloads, then Share › Save Video for Photos. Long-press the preview and pick Download if the browser tries to play it instead.
What the file is
One MP4 with picture and its own audio, exactly as X served it. No logo, no overlay, no second encode. The ceiling is the upload resolution, so most clips are 720p.
How big the files run
Video is stored in short renditions, so clips stay small: a few megabytes for a minute at 720p. If storage is tight take a middle rendition rather than the largest; the difference is size, not sharpness on a phone screen. Archive copies are worth the largest one.
Naming and sorting a set
Saved clips arrive with hashed names that sort at random. Rename each to the account and the event before the folder fills up, and keep a short note of the post link beside the files. When a thread later needs credit or a follow-up, that note is the only thing tying the video back to its source.
